Species: Capsicum annuum | Origin: USA | Pungency: Medium
Riot is an
ornamental dwarf variety that was developed by Dr. James Baggett at Oregon State University, USA. The small plants have a compact bushy growth habit and produce good yields of upright growing chillies which are typically long, narrow and tapered to a pointed tip. They start creamy yellow with some purpling and ripen through several shades of orange and then to bright red. This variety makes a great addition to any sunny windowsill or conservatory, and in 2021 it received the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Although the colourful, flame-like chillies are typically of medium heat, occasionally some of them can be heat-free.
