Mako Akokosrade
Species: Capsicum chinense | Origin: Ghana | Pungency: Very Hot
Mako Akokosrade was discovered by Joe Delaney from Minneapolis in August 2011 whilst at a roadside market in Nkrakum village outside Koforidua, East Akyim District, Eastern Region, Ghana. The plants have a compact growth habit and produce excellent yields of ribbed, elongated chillies which start light green and ripen through yellow and then to golden-yellow. When fully ripe they turn slightly soft, but when removed from the plant they turn very soft very quickly, so for this reason they're best left on the plant until needed. Mako Akokosrade chillies have a very pungent fruity aroma and flavour and are used by Ghanaians to add extra heat and aroma to peppery dishes. The name 'Mako Akokosrade' means 'yellow pepper' in the Twi language. If you enjoy the flavour of Fatalii then you'll definitely enjoy the flavour of this variety!
