Fatalii
Species: Capsicum chinense | Origin: Central Africa | Pungency: Extremely Hot
Fatalii is a much-loved heirloom variety from Central Africa and is considered by many chilli-heads to be one of the best tasting Capsicum chinense varieties there is. Some people have even theorised that this variety may be the precursor to the Naga Morich from India and Bangladesh. The plants can be extremely prolific when grown under optimum conditions, and the conical-shaped chillies start dark green and ripen to bright yellow. If left on the plants for a while after reaching full maturity some fruits may occasionally develop a very faint orange coloured hue. Fatalii chillies have a strong fruity aroma and a citrus-like flavour and work very well in salsas, sauces, stews, stir fries and Caribbean and Yucatecan cuisines. This variety is like the cream soda of the Capsicum chinense world! Brown, red and white variants of Fatalii also exist, but yellow is the original one.
